Farmers’ Market on the Green Every Thursday!

The Farmer’s Market returns to the Westfield City Green every Thursday afternoon from 2:00PM until 6:30PM. With the summer in full swing, theres are veggies and fruits galore so come on down and check out what our local farmers and growers are up to this year.

 Sweet Pea Farm has added Goat’s Milk to her List of market favorites, goat cheese and yogurt!Speaking of additions we have Barnum & Buckley Farm offering up free samples of her newest offerings Goat Sausage!If all that wasn’t enough we have invited Chef Anthony to come and prepare some recipes and samples to our market goers, providing them with great ideas for eating healthy!

Big Band and Dance Concert Series @ School Street Bistro

Big Band Concert with Premier Swing Band

Premier Swing Band at the Bistro Music Hall this summer!The School Street Bistro is proud to announce the first of their Big Band and Dance Concert Series. The shows will feature the outstanding 8-piece Big Band/Swing Ensemble, the Premier Swing Band. They will be performing a wide repertoire of jazz and swing music. The concerts will be held in the School Street Bistro’s Music Hall on the 4th Thursday of each month, June 25, July 23, and August 27. The tables will be set around the perimeter of the Music Hall to provide a beautiful wooden dance floor for those that wish to dance.  The doors open at 6:00 and a free dance lesson will be provided from 6:30 to 7:00 (June-Swing; July-Foxtrot; August-Waltz).  Then Premier Swing will play from 7:00 until 9:00.  You’ll be able to order fine food and beverages from the Bistro menu all night.  The cost for these wonderful evenings is a mere $10 so put on your dancing shoes and join us at the Bistro this summer. Make SPACE for Healthy Summer Fun Day

Make SPACE for Healthy Summer Fun Day on June 20 - click on image for full size posterJune 20th will mark the first Make SPACE for Healthy Summer Fun Day in Westfield with events all around downtown Westfield.
Beginning on the Green at 11:00 and running to 4:00pm!
There will be a full slate of events at the YMCA on Court St. from 1:00pm-4:00pm

We will offer a day long series of performances on the City Green with dancers, musicians, and great demonstrations. The fun begins at 11 AM and runs until 4 PM.

Featured acts are the Poi Dancers, Bamidele Dancers & Drummers, Evan Murray, Brittany Bousquet, and Shannon Lyn Bailey.

Later on in the evening, local favorite Jeff Bouvier will kick off the Saturday Night Live concerts with a performance at 6:00PM.
This is another great collaborative between Westfield on Weekends, the YMCA, the Westfield BID, the Mass Cultural Council, and The Tea Pot Gallery…we thank everyone for their efforts!

Stanley Park’s Grand 60th Anniversary Celebration

Stanley Park is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2009 Sixty years ago in 1949, Frank Stanley Beveridge, founder of StanHome Products, established the Stanley Park of Westfield. To commemorate this milestone, “Sixty Years of Preservation…Sixty Days of Celebration,” was designed to present an array of events for all to enjoy. The activities will run from mid-June through mid-August when on Sunday, August 16, the actual day of its founding, Stanley Park will present a grand parade up Western Avenue arriving at the Park fields. “A Walk in the Woods” performed at Piccolo’s

EQUITY THEATRE RETURNS!
Lee Blessing’s long-running Broadway success A Walk in the Woods leads off
The Westfield State College Foundation’s second summer season of
professional theatre in downtown Westfield.

The play is produced in association with Actors & Company.
A Walk in the Woods” plays June 17-20 and 24-27 at 8 p.m. on
The Stage at Piccolo’s Ristorante at 110 Elm Street in downtown Westfield.

Tickets
can be reserved by calling 413-562-2277. Tickets will also be sold at the door prior to each performance. All tickets are $15.
Patrons wishing to dine at Piccolo’s prior to a performance can make reservations by calling 413-572-1433. Reservations are advised for 6 p.m. to conclude the dining experience prior to the 8 p.m. curtain.

The play features Ashley Shea as the American negotiator. She appeared last season
as Emily Dickinson in the Westfield State College Foundation’s production of The Belle of Amherst.  Jack Shea plays her Russian counterpart and also directs. Both actors appear under a special appearance agreement with Actors’ Equity Association, the union of professional stage actors. It’s sure to be a great night of Downtown Theatre in Westfield, so make your reservations now!
