Westfield State’s Downtown Gallery offers “EAST Meets WESTfield” exhibitThe Westfield State College Downtown Art Gallery, 105 Elm St., Westfield, is showcasing the “East Meets Westfield” exhibit. The show is currently up and runs until July 25. The exhibit features artwork from three Asian artists: paintings by In Sun Russell, ceramics by Naoko Matsumoto, and photography by Hanayo Takai. The exhibit is sponsored by Stanley Park, in celebration of its 60th year and addition of a Japanese garden. An artist reception is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 9, where viewers can enjoy food, music, and meet the artists. “We are fortunate to be able to showcase three strong Asian artists from Russell, Boston, and Brooklyn, NY,” said Faith Lund, director of the Westfield State Downtown Art Gallery. “Their work is diversified, however they share the common theme of calm, serenity, and beauty.” ”As a result, nature is shown individually through the eyes of each artist in different mediums: paintings, photography, and ceramics,” Lund said. “The show exhibits diversity and a tie with a different culture.” Lund encourages people to come view the exhibit and “see nature in a new way, through the eyes of these exciting artists.” For more information on the Westfield State College Downtown Art Gallery contact Faith Lund at https://mail.wsc.ma.edu/owa/redir.aspx?C=b3ccbc30c3bd4c218053e6e4ff62c94b&URL=mailto%3aflund%40wsc.ma.edu. |
