Main St/Broad St Traffic Update-for the week of 6/14/10
. This week will see numerous closings and detour throughout the Broad St., Elm St. and Main St. corridors with the most challenging issues being on Elm St. where the Gas and Electric will be working with Kudlic Construction. The good news is the intersection of Main and Meadow will be reopened after today. Here is the work sites for the week:
1. Elm St. from just north of Orange St. heading south to Franklin St. will have work done. Two lane traffic is the ideal but there might have to be a detour for north bound traffic to Bartlett St. to Mechanic St. to Meadow St. to Union Av. The plan is to occupy the west side of the road. We will be playing this as it goes.
2. Maple St. is closed to through traffic.
3. The intersection of Main St. at Meadow St. will still see work, but the intersection will be opened to through traffic.
4. Broad St. will continue to be worked on the west side of the road. This will only be a minor issue as there will be two directions of traffic.
5. Yale St. will be closed on Monday for the completion of the water work.
6. The intersection at West Silver and East Silver will be escavated, but there will be officers there directing traffic through the site.
7. Verizon will be working on Main St. west of Noble St. setting back their telephone poles all week. There will be minor delays but there should be no significant delays.
The details for the demolition of the tressel, spanning Main St. near Free St., has not been finalized yet.
