Summer Activities at the Westfield Athenaeum

library logoBring the kids to the library this summer for a lot of fun activities, stories, crafts and movies!  Here are just some of the great programs offered in July:

Wednesday, July 7th -Think green!!  “Recycle a carton into a wallet”
Join other students entering grades 6-12 for this exciting recycle craft. We will be turning a carton into a wallet. All materials are supplied by the library. Registration is required and space is limited.

Thursday, July 8th

Take a Tromp through the Swamp: And a break by the Lake

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

A family program featuring the very talented Tom Sieling. Humorous, very participatory (sometimes even a bit athletic!) songs that engage the whole family. Registration is required.

TEEN GAME TIME

3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Students entering grades 6-12 are invited to drop in to the library to meet with friends and play games. There will be ROCK BAND, GUITAR HERO, DDR, Wii and various board games available. For more information contact Patti or Dan in the B&G.

Friday, July 9th – “Chalk Turtles”

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Young artists will get a chance to create their own chalk drawings with guest artist Terry Rooney. Come let your creativity flow. Ages 5-7 years. Registration is required

Monday, July 12th -Family Movie ‘Finding Nemo’ 2003

2:00 PM - 3:45 PM

A father-son underwater adventure about a clown fish and his son Nemo, who is stolen from his home in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia, and taken to a fish tank in a dentist’s office in Sydney. Nemo’s timid father and a blue tang fish named Dory with short-term memory loss must follow the East Australian current in order to get to Sydney and take Nemo home. Rated G. Running time: 100 min.
