2012 Dickens Days

Greetings!

IT’S A DICKENS OF A DECEMBER IN WESTFIELD!

Whip City celebrates 9 years of holiday fun.

Now in its 9th magical year, Westfield Dickens Days is an exciting community-wide event inspired by Charles Dickens on his 200th birthday & the Victorian Age. It’s a December of holiday traditions, teas, theatre, visits with Santa, lectures, concerts & sparkling lights throughout The District, Whip City’s downtown.

Whip City has much to celebrate this holiday season. While Westfield has seen many changes to its downtown during the past few years, including the continuing renovation of the Westfield Green, Dickens Days continues to spin its family magic. With the reopening of the Great River Bridges, Dickens Days events are more accessible and (could it be possible ?) more fun!

This season Whip City makes a fine destination for families with events are so family friendly. These  include the Lanternlight Parade as the mayor, Dickens spirits and the surprising giant puppets of the Puppeteers Cooperative of Boston and New York light the 22-foot holiday tree; an incredible solo performance of A Christmas Carol by Gerald Charles Dickens, the great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens and Snowfire 2012, a crackling celebration featuring more giant puppets, caroling, cocoa and cookies around a roaring snowfire.  More than ever, it’s a Dickens of a December in Westfield. WOW! More than 50 happenings in 30 days ….what magic!!!
