Rob PeckWednesday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m.  Presenter: Motivational Speaker Rob Peck.

Popular motivational speaker Rob Peck will present Keeping Up in a Down Economy, co-sponsored by the Athenaeum, the Westfield Business Improvement District (WBID)  and Westfield on Weekends, Inc. (WOW).

Mr. Peck is the Founder of Zestworks, a speaking, training and consulting firm which believes that “the best test is zest!”  He is also an award-winning juggler and entertainer. From Harvard to Hewlett Packard, his customized speeches and seminars have raised morale, re-invigorated commitment, and rein forced the power of collaborative problem solving. Come and partake of some comedic relief in celebration of the end of tax season and learn how to live “zestfully!”

Westfield Athenaeum Lecture Series ~ Spring 2010

Lieutenant Richard Falley’s Life in Westfield: 1760 –1810,    In the Auditoriumlibrary logo
Wednesday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m.  Presenters: Historians Dennis Picard and Richrad Colton.

Dennis Picard, Director of Storrowton Village Museum, will be joined by Richard Colton, a Historian at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site, in this talk about the LieutenantRichard Falley’s life in Westfield from 1760 – 1810, and about the Springfield Armory and the U.S. Army Ordinance Dept. The talks will be given in conjunction with the display of two muskets made by Falley (one recently acquired by the Edwin Smith Historical Museum at the Athenaeum and authenticated as a Falley musket), along with other material relating to Lieutenant Falley, who was reported to have had an armory on Mt. Tekoa in  Montgomery.

Spring 2010 Music Hall Concert Series Subscription (good for all 3 shows at Bistro)

bistroThis year, Westfield on Weekends is offering a Subscription Option for our Spring 2010 Music Hall Concert Series at the School St Bistro.

For the reduced price of $35, patrons will receive tickets to each of the three shows we are producing for this Spring Season.

The shows feature renowned local favorites, BRASS ATTACK, on Feb 13 and the great Celtic Rock band from Burlington, Vermont, PRYDEIN, on March 27. KELLI TROTTIER, the extraordinary Canadian Singer, Fiddler, and Step Dancer, will close the series on April 24.

Please join Westfield on Weekends and the School St Bistro for a full season of great food and dance and music. The shows begin at 7:00PM with doors opening at 6:00PM. Food and drinks will be available before and during the shows. Bring your friends and make an event of it!

Doors of Westfield Photo Contest

To celebrate Mayor Dan Knapik’s open door policy at city hall, everyone is invited to share their special photos, new or old, with the community.   Westfield’s history and culture is reflected in the architecture and decor of our downtown businesses and residences.  Share your favorite photos of the doors in Westfield that invite us to enter and experience reflections of not only the past but of our present and future.   These photos will be displayed in downtown store fronts as part of the Westfield BID’s “Windows of Westfield” project during the month of February.

Click here for a submission form,Photo Contest .  Submissions received by 1/28/2010 will be considered for display at the Mayor’s Inaugural Ball.

Please submit 8×10 or larger matted prints of photos of “Doors of Westfield” to the front desk of the Westfield Athenaeum from January 15th through February 8th.  Judges for the event are Barbara Krawczyk, President of the Westfield Camera Club and Dick Simmons, past President of the Springfield Camera Club.

Prizes will be awarded in the form of Westfield BID gift certificates which can be used at any BID member retailer or professional business.  See our business directory for participating members.

1st prize – $100 WBID gift certificate, 2nd prize – $50 WBID gift certificate, and 3rd prize – $25 WBID gift certificate.

Spring Music Hall Concert/Dance at School St Bistro w/ BRASS ATTACK

saxWestfield on Weekends is proud to announce the first of the 2010 Spring Music Hall Series concerts. This year’s inaugural event will be held at the School St Bistro on Feb 13 and will feature the renowned local favorites, Brass Attack. There will be a special dinner menu and a cash bar for all patrons.

This year’s theme will be a celebration of Mardi Gras and the end of winter.  Doors will open at 6:00PM with cocktails served at 6:30PM. The concert and dancing will commence at 7:00PM and Brass Attack will play into the night.

Tickets for Brass Attack are $15 before the show. They can be purchased at the School St Bistro or online at Tix.com by clicking here. Dinner is not included in the price of admission.  Special discounted price of $35, if you purchase tickets for all three Spring Music Hall Concerts.  Also in the series is the Celtic Rock band, Prydein, on March 27th and Kellie Trottier on April 24th.  See below for details.
