Downtown Clean-Up

family clean up dayThe Westfield Business Improvement District along with Mayor Dan Knapik, Councilor Jim Brown, Councilor Peter Miller, The Greater Westfield Clergy Association, Andy Oleksak, The Tobacco Barn and Rocky’s Ace Hardware sponsored a “Downtown Clean-up” day, on Saturday, May 1st, 2010.

The day was a “huge” success.  Over 125 volunteers from all different walks of life came together to clean up our downtown lots.  After a very productive  morning of sweeping, weeding, mulching, etc…everyone involved enjoyed a delicious cookout.  Many thanks go to all the volunteers who gave their time and labor!

A special thanks to Pastor Val of the Greater Westfield Clergy Association for spearheading this great and very worthwhile event.  We couldn’t have done it without her!

Here’s some of our volunteers hard at work!

29 School St

Westfield on Weekends and the School Street Bistro are proud to welcome the acclaimed Celtic Rock band, PRYDEIN, to the School St Bistro Music Hall as part of WoW’s Spring Music Hall Concert Series.

Following up last year’s inaugural smash Wintergreen Days success with Seven Nations, we are proud to present another blood boiling bagpiping Celtic music legend. Burlington Vermont based Prydein has been pleasing fans all over New England and other parts of this wide world since 1995 and are still going strong. We are proud to welcome them back to western Mass and the Westfield area.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the School St Bistro or online at www.tix.comSpecial discounted price of $20 for two shows, Prydein on March 27th and Kelli Trottier on April 24th.

About Prydein

Originally started in 1995 as the band Whisky Before Breakfast by 6 college friends, Prydein has been playing the Highland Game and Celtic Festival circuit for the better part of a decade in one form or another. The two original members, Aron Garceau (guitar, vocals) and Iain Mac Harg (bagpipes, flute) have been friends the entire time and usually break the band up for months or years at a time when the band gets in the way of that friendship.

Now Prydein is back and it’s fully loaded. Aron and Iain have been joined by bassist Andy Smith (Mighty Sam McLain Band, Jazzmosis) and drummer Caleb Bronz (Gordon Stone Trio, Mighty Sam McLain Band). They went into the studio this past spring to put down on plastic 6 years worth of music that’d been festering inside of their heads. The result was their new album, Loud Pipes (save lives) and It’ll knock your socks off. If you’re in a hurry and don’t want to wait to get it in the mail, you can order it through
